Six contestants times two-minute speed trials equals 12 minutes of cable terminations all brought to you by one source: Cabling Icon.

The six finalists in this year’s Cabling Icon contest have been named, and each of their termination time trials has been posted online. On December 10, Cabling Icon organizers announced the following six individuals have advanced to the contest’s final round.

  • Mark Bazin – Cristo Rey Jesuit (pictured)
  • Patrick Falkenthal – Falken Services LLC
  • Joshua Matanane – ASC Communications Inc.
  • Paul Neukam – SiteWise Systems
  • Francisco Roybal – Sandia Lightwave/CTS
  • Michael Trotman

On December 17 Cabling Icon posted each finalist’s UTP termination speed trial video. A judging panel takes it from here and on December 30 this year’s Cabling Icon will be crowned.

This year two contest sponsors stepped up, contributing merchandise that will be awarded to the winner. Specifically, in addition to $4,500 cash, the Golden Punchdown Award, and an embroidered Cabling Icon leather vest, this year’s winner will receive a TechTable kit donated by TechTable, as well as a set of 48 intelligent patch cords of any category and length, donated by 3P Design.
