IdentiComm introduces z/linx modular cabling system

IdentiComm (Wescosville, PA) recently introduced z/linx, a preterminated, preassembled and pretested zoned structured cabling system, at the Networld+Interop show in Atlanta. According to the company, this system enables companies to organize, deploy, adapt and standardize their closet-to-closet and closet-to-workstation communications and information networks quickly and easily.
The fold-down, plug-and-play rack is portable and lets users unplug horizontal cabling and move the rack to a new location, thus reducing installation time and costs. Z/linx can accommodate 10 patch panels per rack, with each panel supporting eight 3-jack outlets for a total of 240 ports per rack.
"Z/linx virtually eliminates the two biggest problems that MIS [management information system] and facilities managers encounter in network design and construction," says James Kraft, IdentiComm`s president. "The growth of technology outpaces our ability to manage it, and current cabling system options don`t facilitate growth and change. Z/linx simplifies tasks such as adding workstations, relocating staff, upgrading equipment and other frequent changes that technology requires."
Unique design
Several features distinguish z/linx as a solution to structured cabling system issues:
- It is preterminated and tested during manufacture, which enables faster installation and fewer network interruptions.
- It uses only one connector that plugs into the patch panel, eliminating the need for individual hard-wiring.
- Each 3-jack outlet, representing one workstation, allows any combination of three information and communications lines.
- It meets channel-link performance to 100 Mbits/sec.
- If the rack is damaged by fire, flood or disaster, for example, an identical replacement can be ordered for overnight delivery and installed in minutes.
- It standardizes the layout of communications closets.
- Alphabetical- and color-coded patch panels and outlets make identifying cables easy. To match or move workstations, you only have to match letters and colors.
The z/linx system is patent-pending and can be purchased or licensed only through IdentiComm. For additional information, call (888) 667-7440, or e-mail: [email protected].
