Conduit Supports are Custom Made for Complex Installations
Condux International offers support systems for conduit that are customized to accommodate some of the most challenging fiber-optic cable installations. “The support systems are designed to simplify complex bridge, bore, and open-trench installations,” the company explains. Condux adds that it “works with customers to develop underbridge and structural hanger systems based on conduit configuration, cable weight, mounting location, mounting application [e.g. clamp-on, deck insert], and project conditions. Systems can accommodate full range of conduit materials including fiberglass, PVC, or steel and can be configured for cable raceway system installations beneath or alongside new and existing structures.”
The company provides CAD-based layouts, material takeoffs, and a complete bill of materials covering the installation. For example, the installation may span from one bridge abutment to another, or a series of such spans. Condux’s layouts, takesoffs, and BOMs include hangers, braced anchor hangers, brackets, conduit expansion joints, and split-stop rings. For underground applications, Condux offers custom bore and open-trench spacers in essentially any conduit configuration. CAD and waterjet manufacturing help produce accurate spacers that maintain conduit alignment within casings or trenches, Condux points out. Open-trench plate spacers also allow duct banks to be assembled above ground and lowered into place, improving installation efficiency and jobsite safety by reducing the need for personnel to work inside the trench.
“There are a lot of questions and considerations when it comes to conduit support systems,” comments product specialist Brian Baynes. “We evaluate each requested configuration to help determine whether it is practical and manufacturable. But final hanger spacing, load ratings, and structural requirements must be reviewed and approved by a licensed engineer responsible for the project.”
