Communications Supply Corporation has announced it has completed the purchase of Calvert Wire & Cable Corp.
The acquisition includes the Calvert Wire & Cable and Famous Telephone Supply branch operations.
Based in Cleveland, OH, Calvert is one of the industry's fastest growing distributors of communication infrastructure products, including cable, optical fiber, network electronics and industrial wire and cable products. The acquisition is designed to give CSC a strong foothold in the Cleveland, OH, and Ohio River Valley markets. The addition of Calvert/Famous Telephone Supply to the CSC family brings the number of full stocking branch operations across the United States to 29.
Brian Coughlin will remain as Calvert's general manager, and all of Calvert's employees will maintain their current positions and responsibilities. In addition, Coughlin will serve as president of CSC's Industrial Wire & Cable segment. In his new role, Coughlin will be charged with creating a national presence for CSC within the industrial wire and cable market.
"I am excited about the future prospects as we bring our two high-performing businesses together, creating a more powerful enterprise," says Steve Riordan, president and CEO of CSC.
The merger is designed to provide substantial service enhancements for Calvert customers, including access to broader product lines, additional inventory and a nationwide distribution network.
"The two companies share the same corporate culture, providing the most responsive customer service in the industry while also placing a strong emphasis on employee and supplier relations," says Coughlin. "That's one of the main reasons we decided to merge."
"Our customers will continue to be supported by the same staff they've grown to depend on with the added national resources and capabilities that CSC provides," he adds. "The new partnership between our companies will greatly benefit our customers, associates and suppliers alike."
