PCTEL adds 5G NR testing for mmWave and sub-6 GHz deployments

Now a single HBflex scanning receiver from PCTEL can simultaneously test mmWave and sub-6 GHz coverage.

PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a specialist in wireless technology including purpose-built industrial IoT devices, antenna systems, and test and measurement solutions, has announced enhanced 5G NR testing capabilities to support efficient deployment of 5G and spectrum sharing technologies.

According to the company, now a single HBflex scanning receiver from PCTEL can simultaneously test mmWave and sub-6 GHz coverage, giving operators maximum flexibility in testing their 5G networks. The HBflex is part of the company’s portfolio of 5G solutions designed to enhance coverage and connectivity.

Key features of PCTEL’s 5G scanning receivers, according to the company, include: simultaneous testing across all technologies and bands; a fast dual-port testing mode for 5G mmWave networks; simultaneous decoding of all Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) beams; 64 beams on FR2 (mmWave) frequencies; 8 beams on FR1 (sub-6 GHz) frequencies; support for 4G/5G dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS); and a "blind scan" feature to simplify test set-up by automatically detecting channels.
