Quiktron releases bend tolerant fiber cables for datacom, telecom markets

The company says the cables are specifically designed to improve the overall performance of fiber networks by significantly reducing system attenuation, which can lead to system unreliability and downtime.

Quiktron has introduced its line of bend tolerant fiber optic cable assemblies product for the datacom and telecommunications industries. The company says the cables are specifically designed to improve the overall performance of fiber networks by significantly reducing system attenuation, which can cause system unreliability and downtime. The company says the cables are designed to improve fiber performance in LANs and data centers where attenuation is caused by cable bends around equipment and cable management systems.

“As high-density fiber networks become more widely adopted, the need for cabling technologies that provide performance and reliability is critical to continuing that growth,” comments Bill Diederich, president of Lastar, parent company of Quiktron. “As one of the first companies to offer a bend-tolerant product, we are committed to making it easier for customers to implement these new fiber technologies.”

The product lines cover both singlemode and multimode connectivity, with 7.5 mm and 10 mm minimum bend radii cable available. The cables provide 10 Gb Ethernet performance over 300 m distances, and 1 Gb performance over 1 km. Other key features include: 50 m multimode 10 Gb ISO/IEC OM3 compliance; singlemode ITU G.657A and ITU G.657A/B compliance; Corning Gold jumpers made with 100 percent Corning components; and Q-Series bend tolerant jumpers domestically manufactured using highest quality components.

Bend Tolerant Fiber Cables from Quiktron Improve Network Performance

New Bend Tolerant Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies Reduce Network Attenuation

DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Quiktron (www.quiktron.com), a leading manufacturer of fiber optic and copper cable assemblies for the datacomm and telecommunication industries, today announced a new Bend Tolerant Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies product. These cables are specifically designed to improve the overall performance of fiber networks by significantly reducing system attenuation, which commonly causes system unreliability and downtime.

Bend Tolerant Fiber Optic Cable Assemblies experience minimal signal loss with bends as small as 7.5mm, giving fiber technicians and engineers increased flexibility in installations of fiber cables. They improve the performance of fiber networks in local area networks (LANs) and datacenters where attenuation is caused by cable bends around equipment and cable management systems. Just one bend in the cable can create enough signal loss to cause network downtime, but the Bend Tolerant Fiber Cables significantly reduce bend-related attenuation and make it easier to install and troubleshoot the fiber network.

“As high-density fiber networks become more widely adopted, the need for cabling technologies that provide performance and reliability is critical to continuing that growth,” said Bill Diederich, president of Lastar, parent company of Quiktron. “As one of the first companies to offer a bend-tolerant product, we are committed to making it easier for customers to implement these new fiber technologies.”
