Anixter's ipAssured for Data Centers program will be announced during a live event at the upcoming AFCOM Data Center World trade show.

GLENVIEW, Ill. -- Anixter will launch its new data center infrastructure assurance program, dubbed "Anixter ipAssured for Data Centers", during a live event at the upcoming AFCOM Data Center World trade show. Anixter says the program that includes physical infrastructure products and best practices recommendations needed to support current and future data center applications.

According to Anixter, by implementing the ipAssured program, data centers may reduce their power consumption while boosting performance, which can result in an up to 55 percent savings in energy costs. The program is intended to help simplify the tough choices data center and facility managers, enterprises, contractors and integrators need to make when building or upgrading new and existing data center facilities.

The program includes the appropriate network cabling, racks and cabinets, power and cooling solutions, accessories, security, and data center management and monitoring products to support the needs and goals of an existing or new data center. It will be unveiled at a customer reception that will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on October 4 at The Mirage in Las Vegas.

Data centers are coming under unique pressures for strict sustainability, security and performance requirements, notes Anixter. With its technical experts, the distributor says it is uniquely positioned to understand how a data center's physical infrastructure has a direct impact on overall performance. From reducing carbon emissions to improving operational efficiencies to boosting performance for longer life cycles, the scope of data concerns is increasing beyond storage and speed.

Several trends are directly impacting the design, performance and efficiency of data centers," said Andrew Jimenez, Anixter's Vice President of Technology for Enterprise Cabling Solutions. "From consolidation and virtualization to enhanced security and reducing environmental impact, data centers need to reduce energy consumption, ensure near continuous uptime and maximize operating costs."

For ease of planning, ipAssured for data centers addresses three possible scenarios: "Refined" (IP- Class 1+), "Enhanced" (IP-Class 5+) and "Advanced" (IP-Class 10+). These classes provide users with readily identifiable categories of products and best practices for creating a robust infrastructure that will maximize the efficiency, sustainability and profitability of a data center.

In addition to the unveiling at AFCOM's Data Center World trade show, Anixter will host a live webinar on October 7 at 10 a.m. (CDT) and 1 p.m. (CDT) to launch the Anixter ipAssured for Data Centers program to customers. Registration for both events can be found at www.anixter.com/dcipassured.
