BICSI extends application deadline for 2017 Cabling Skills Challenge

Installers and technicians have until December 23 to apply for entry into the Cabling Skills Challenge competition that will determine the Installer of the Year and award a $5,000 cash prize.

BICSI has extended the application period for entry into the 2017 Cabling Skills Challenge. Interested parties have until Friday, December 23 to submit an application to the competition that will determine the Installer of the Year and award the champion with a $5,000 cash prize.

The 10th edition of the Cabling Skills Challenge will be held January 23-25, during BICSI’s 2017 Winter Conference. Professionals holding any of the following BICSI credentials are eligible to apply for entry: Installer 1, Installer 2, Installer 2 Copper, Installer 2 Optical Fiber, Technician. Entrants receive complimentary registration to the conference, and all competing installation professionals will receive a prize package.

The competition will include the following seven events.

  • Structured cabling system installation
  • Copper cable terminations and firestopping
  • Fiber terminations
  • Cable assembly
  • Cable troubleshooting/technical support
  • Competency exam
  • Professionalism/orientation

The program also includes individual “speed challenge” events, including fusion splicing, 50-pair punchdown, cable routing and others.
