Two organizations that are familiar to many in the premises-cabling industry recently announced new names for themselves. Enclosure manufacturer Encore Products has changed its name to Enclosure Systems Worldwide (ESW-www.eswusa.com). And the units that made up Greenlee Textron's Data-Signal-Voice group now exist under the name Tempo, a Textron company (www.tempo.textron.com).
ESW president Steve Berg cited the recent opening of a second manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC, claiming it has readied the company to deliver products globally. In announcing the name change, ESW said it also is unveiling a new corporate logo and Web site design.
As for Tempo, over the past couple years, Textron went on a buying spree of sorts, acquiring: Chesilvale, Data com, IMAP, Progressive, RIFOCS, and Tempo Research. All those units will now carry the Tempo name. Executives of the new company plan to phase out the use of the other names within two years. The newly-formed Tempo employs approximately 600. The firm likely will relocate its headquarters, although a location is not yet determined.
Scott Hall, a former General Cable executive, is president of Tempo. Hall spent 17 years at General Cable, most recently as senior vice president and general manager of communications cable.
