August 20, 2007 -- Panduit and ECT International have introduced their "promise" software, which the companies say is designed to offer panel builders significant reductions in control panel design and development time by automating control panel projects "from schematic to completion."

The software includes an extensive library of components from control panel manufacturers, and provides panel builders with the ability to automatically generate BOMs, purchase order lists, job costing lists, terminal block plans, from-to wire lists and field wire lists, with a single tool.

In addition to links for complete product specifications and part drawings for Panduit components, the software also incorporates customized Panduit features such as automatic assignment; this feature intelligently calculates wire fill, duct size, quantity of adhesive mounts, appropriate sizing for abrasion protection and recommends cable ties based on bundle diameter.

Also, the software's "wizard" tool reads schematics and wire routing information and, based on user preferences, automatically assigns terminal and power connector part numbers to the ends of the wires. Finally, direct export for wire and device labels to Panduit's Easy-Mark Labeling Software eliminates manual entry of wire and device tags.

With the software, panel builders can reduce design and documentation time by up to 60%, according to the companies. For more information, go to www.panduit.com/promise.
