Anixter re-elected to ONVIF technical committee

Jan. 10, 2013
Distributor will continue to take part in developing test specifications, test tools and conformance process for ONVIF’s IP-based physical security standards.

At ONVIF’s annual meeting in Miami on November 29, 2012, Anixter (NYSE: AXE) was re-elected for another term with the ONVIF Technical Services Committee. ONVIF is comprised of global companies that work to develop the global standard for the interface of IP-based physical security products.

With only two elected seats in the five-seat committee, Anixter says it is proud to serve another term on the committee in 2013. The distributor will join the three founding member companies of ONVIF -- Axis, Bosch and Sony -- in developing test specifications, test tools and conformance process for ONVIF’s IP-based physical security standards.

Council members are committed to creating technical standards that further ONVIF’s mission of creating a global standard for the interface of IP-based physical security products. The Technical Services Committee includes the test specification, test tool and technical support working groups.

The ONVIF specification enables the interoperability between network video products regardless of manufacturer, making it easier for end-users, integrators, consultants and manufacturers to take advantage of network video. ONVIF says the standard helps to drive the convergence from analog to digital platforms, resulting in more cost-effective and flexible solutions, expanded market opportunities and reduced risk.

“As part of Anixter’s commitment to technical leadership in every industry it serves, we are excited to be re-elected to the Technical Services Committee,” comments Anixter's Matt Powers. “We will continue to look at the ways best practices, technologies and industry standards can further the migration to IP-based physical security products. We look forward to collaborating with other leading companies for continued innovation in the IP security space.”
