In many enterprise and campus networks, devices including surveillance cameras and WiFi access points reside in remote locations, significant distances from the nearest telecommunications room. In a vast majority of cases, these devices are powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) and, as such, are subject to the 100-meter standard-imposed distance limitation for cabling channels.
