BICSI releases 14th edition of flagship TDMM manual

Feb. 7, 2020
As BICSI’s flagship manual, the Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM) is known as the leading reference for all ICT professionals designing digital infrastructure projects.

BICSI, the professional association devoted to training and credentials for the information and communications technology (ICT) community, has announced the release of the 14th edition of its Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM).

Billed as "the definitive resource for telecommunications and ICT infrastructure design for the past 35 years," in a statement, BICSI further contends, "Spanning 2,000 pages, the new two-volume TDMM 14th is the foundation of ICT design for the next 20 years."

The association says significant changes have been made to the 14th edition of the manual, which reflect the newest trends in ICT technologies, to ensure a project is designed based on the latest standards and best practices.

Updates to the new edition, according to BICSI, include: a completely new chapter on special design considerations; new sections on disaster recovery and risk management; a new section on OM5 multimode fiber; and expanded information concerning topics of intelligent building design, 5G, DAS, WiFi-6, data centers, Power over Ethernet (PoE), the healthcare vertical, wireless networks, electronic safety and security systems, building automation, and more.

As BICSI’s flagship manual, the TDMM is known as the leading reference document for all ICT professionals designing digital infrastructure projects. It also acts as the basis for BICSI’s Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) program, the gold-standard industry certification for ICT designers. "Since its inception, the TDMM has helped to certify thousands of RCDDs," notes BICSI.
