In an effort to optimally inform its stakeholders during the COVID-19 pandemic, Verizon has begun posting its daily "Up to Speed Live" videos.
"Join us live every weekday at 12 PM ET/9 AM PT to hear the latest updates and coronavirus news," states the carrier on its website.
"At this point we have just over 50 [Verizon employees] around the world that have the virus, and we're working closely to make sure they are getting the care they need and they have contact with the benefits team and we have a way to help them get resources as they need it," revealed Verizon's lead HR officer Christy Pambianchi in the Monday, March 23 installment of updates.
In the March 24 installment, Verizon's CEO, Hans Vestberg, senior vice president - network operations, Kevin Service and HR chief Pambianchi provided more coronavirus updates. The news included an update on the changing usage of Verizon's networks; types of critical customer service its techs are providing; and the announcement of an internal job board portal launching this week.
"We have a technician, Kendrick Thompson from Virginia, who repaired service yesterday for a cancer patient that needed to stay connected with their doctors," related Verizon's wireline network head Service. "Just this morning we had a request from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City asking if we would be available to do the work to upgrade a 10 Gig circuit to support their remote workers and [...] the answer from the team is, of course, we will."
