SCTE-ISBE adds structured cabling training courses for Carrier Ethernet, fiber

May 16, 2019
Both the Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional and Fiber Structured Cabling for Broadband Fiber Installers courses will be available online, or as blended-training boot camps.

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE) last month announced new training partnerships to expand professional learning and development capabilities in the areas of Carrier Ethernet and fiber-optic structured cabling.

The SCTE-ISBE is offering its Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional (CE-CP) 2.0 degree in partnership with Tech 2000.

Also, SCTE-ISBE is partnering with Wirewerks, a developer and manufacturer of optical fiber and copper structured cabling systems, to offer the Fiber Structured Cabling for Broadband Fiber Installers course.

The MEF CE-CP 2.0 is a 12-module online course that comprehensively covers the technologies, standards, services and applications of Carrier Ethernet. The Fiber Structured Cabling course is available in the CALA region through the SCTE-ISBE's training partners TVC and Wirewerks.

Both the Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional and Fiber Structured Cabling for Broadband Fiber Installers courses will be available online, or as blended-training boot camps. Both courses are designed to prepare students for certification examinations.

"To meet increased demand for residential and business broadband services, operators are expanding the ranges of technology solutions in their product portfolios," said Steve Harris, executive director, Technical Sales, Learning & Development for SCTE-ISBE. "By partnering with Tech 2000 and Wirewerks, we are accelerating the availability of training that drives workforce expertise and contributes to operators' bottom lines."

In this recent SCTE-ISBE video (below), Bloomsburg University professor Karl Kapp explains why professional certification is important to technicians' careers, and how certification helps drive the critical needs of companies to accelerate time to market and greater innovation.
