Video Products Inc. (VPI - Aurora, OH) announced the addition of locking Category 6/6a cables to its CATx product line. The new cables' locking boots prevent the patch cords from being unplugged from a critical port while in use.

Per VPI:

  • The CAT6-RAS-LOCK-xx-RED Cat 6 right angle to locking straight patch cord cables feature a right angle connector end that is ideal for confined spaces, and a locking straight connector end that prevents the Ethernet cable from being unplugged. Each cable includes a key to unlock the RJ45 connector. The 24AWG unshielded cable is available in lengths of 2 and 4 feet.
  • The CAT6A-LOCK-xx-BLACK Cat 6a 10 Gigabit unshielded patch cord cables with locking boots and key provide a secure connection between the Cat 6a patch cord and RJ45 port. The locking connectors prevent the Cat 6a patch cord from being unplugged from critical ports while in use. The cables suppress AXT (alien near end cross talk), and have a bandwidth of 500 MHz. The 24AWG UTP cable is available in lengths of 2, 5, 7, 10, 25, and 50 feet.

Available for immediate sale, the CAT6-RAS-LOCK-xx-RED Cat 6 right angle to locking straight patch cord cables cost between $17.70 and $18.70. The CAT6A-LOCK-xx-BLACK Cat 6a 10 Gigabit unshielded patch cord cables with locking boots and key cost between $6.25 and $28.50.
