With this most recent announcement, Electri-Flex notes its Liquatite flexible conduits are now available in Heavy-Duty varieties for any application.

Electri-Flex (Roselle, IL) announced that its Product Types ATLA and LAFG have passed additional industry testing and now conform to the Annex A “Heavy-Duty” designation for CSA Certification.

Electri-Flex Type ATLA is a liquid-tight flexible steel conduit designed specifically for extreme hot or cold environments. The conduit's flexible inner core is identical to that found in the manufacturer's Type LA. The conduit's specially formulated PVC jacket remains flexible at low temperatures and resists aging at elevated temperatures. It is listed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) and certified by Canadian Standards Association for “Heavy-Duty” applications.

Electri-Flex Type LAFG is a UL Listed, CSA Certified, flexible liquid-tight steel conduit that is now antimicrobial and is designed for a variety of installations regarding motion, vibration, and bending on food processing equipment.

Types ATLA and LAFG now join the company's Liquatite product Types LA, CSA, ZHLA and CBLA in offering a variety of Heavy-Duty flexible conduits to choose from that are billed as ideal for a range of applications. The vendor notes that only conduit trade sizes ½” through 4” qualify for the (HD) “Heavy-Duty” designation.

Electri-Flex adds that its "Heavy-Duty Difference means that these conduit types passed vigorous testing, above and beyond standard CSA and UL 360 tests, and conform to C22.2 No. 56-17 Annex A 'Heavy-Duty' for CSA Certification."

Per the company, key features of the Heavy-Duty flexible conduits include:

  • Withstands greater tension force. Tested to 500 lbs. which is a 66% greater force applied versus standard CSA and UL testing.
  • Superior flexibility in cold temperatures. Placed in a freezer for 4 hours, 300% longer cold exposure and then wrapped around a smaller mandrel with a 30-37% tighter bend radius.
  • Stronger connector attachment. Pulling force of 350 lbs., which is 133% greater force applied versus UL testing.
  • Excellent crush strength. Meets the same tough standards as UL, 1,500 – 2,000 lbs. depending on conduit diameter.

With this most recent announcement, Electri-Flex notes its Liquatite flexible conduits are now available in Heavy-Duty varieties for any application. Product Types LA, CSA, ZHLA, CBLA, ATLA, and LAFG offer a range of market solutions, including product specialties such as: halogen-free, low smoke, and low flame spread conduit ideal for enclosed spaces where safety may be an issue; conduit designed for high/low-temperature environments; and antimicrobial food processing flexible conduit that are a Certified Component for NSF/ANSI 169.
