I was browsing through the MilesTek catalog recently and noticed that at least two of the handy ideas that Cabling Installation & Maintenance has published in its Installer Tips section are now being manufactured.

The slingshot/fishing reel mentioned in the December 1996 issue (see "Use a fishing reel to propel cable across a large room," page 46) can now be purchased under the name "Sling-A-Line Wire Puller." And the handy N-shaped-hook extension pole, which was published in the same issue (see "Use a hooked pole to install cable in warehouse with high ceilings," page 52), is sold by MilesTek (and manufactured by Labor $aving Devices Inc.) as the Grabbit telescoping wire pole. I`ve used something like that for years, but without the versatility of the N-shaped hook.

Evidently, someone out there is reading your Installer Tips and is taking them to heart. All the better for those of us who have to sling cable.
