September 3, 2008 -- For those seeking to excel in their ITS careers by gaining the RCDD and/or other certifications, BICSI announced that it is offering local courses and exams to be held this Fall in Andover, Massachusetts and Syracuse, New York.
The courses are as follows:
DD200: Telecommunications Distribution Design Review, Oct. 13-16, Andover, MA and Nov. 17-20, Syracuse, NY
DD200 features a fast-paced review of the BICSI Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM), , 11th edition, highlighting critical areas that need to be known for the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) exam. Practice tests and general test-taking tips and strategies are included.
DD200 is the only official BICSI-sanctioned course for preparation of the RCDD exam. Those encouraged to attend include anyone who has at least two years of commercial, campus and multi-family information transport systems (ITS) design experience, is preparing to take the RCDD exam, or wants a review of telecommunications distribution systems.
NOTE: DD200 is a review course only. To learn how to design telecommunications distribution systems, BICSI offers an in-depth comprehensive six-day course, DD102.

DD102: Designing Networks, Nov. 16-21, Syracuse, NY
DD102 is an intensive six-day course that focuses on designing a structured cabling system. Attendees will design telecommunications spaces, horizontal and backbone distribution systems, and respond to and bid an RFQ and select media. Strategies utilized to enhance the learning experience include case studies and structured application exercises using modernized blueprints with solutions based upon real-world conditions.
Topics for DD102 include: Codes, standards and regulations; Principles of transmission; Electromagnetic compatibility; Telecommunications spaces; Work areas; Horizontal distribution systems; Backbone distribution systems; Grounding (earthing), bonding and electrical protection; Firestopping; Telecommunications administration; Design, construction and project management; Networking fundamentals (includes VoIP and wireless); CO-OSP and campus cabling.
