An entertaining animated video recently produced by Google explains how fiber-optics works in network cabling applications. The Internet search colossus claims that its fiber-optic networking services, such as those recently offered in a pilot deployment in Kansas City, can provide "Internet speeds 100x faster than what most Americans have today."
