Sticklers recently introduced the Pro360 Touchless Cleaner, which the company says “changes the way fiber-optic technicians work and significantly improves their fiber cleaning speed and effectiveness.” The tool quickly and completely cleans oils and dust across the entire endface of both male and female connector ends with a single button-press, Sticklers added.
With the Sticklers Pro360 Touchless Cleaner, a handheld dispensing wand delivers a micro-dose of atomized, high-purity cleaning fluid within a narrow column of pressurized air onto a fiber-optic connector endface, the company explained. The contamination is carried away from the endface with the cleaning fluid during the drying process. The endface is left clean and dry after a single, 3.5-second cycle.
The cleaning system can be used in fiber-to-the-home, fiber-to-the-antenna, and data center applications as well as on connectors in aviation, naval, and military applications.
“The cleaning fluid is classified as non-hazardous and non-regulated for transport by air, sea, and ground,” Sticklers said when introducing the system. “Containing less than three fluid ounces, the Sticklers Pro360 cleaning fluid cartridge can be carried through airport security screening.”
The cleaning system includes adapters to clean 1.25-mm and 2.5-mm connectors currently, and will expand with 1.6-mm for military, 2.0-mm for broadband, MPO/MTP in various fiber counts, and high-density (SN, CS, MDC, MMC-VSFF) in the future.
It comes with two rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and charging station, an AC power supply with international adapter, adapter tips for cleaning LC and SC connectors, a cleaning fluid cartridge, and a case for storage and transport.
The Sticklers Pro360 provides up to 2700 contactless cleans per each hermetically sealed cleaning fluid cartridge, which the company points out gives technicians both portability and fiber cleanliness at what the company describes as “the lowest cost per clean.”
“We’ve kept this new cleaning tool a tightly held secret until the big release at industry shows,” said Rich Hoffman, commercial sales manager. The Pro360 was unveiled at the ECOC Expo and SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, and will be highlighted at Data Centre World in Singapore.
