In-Line Connector Facilitates Direct Connection to Network Devices
Siemon now offers an In-Line Connector (ILC), which the company describes as “a fast, flexible and high-performance solution for direct device connections in today’s smart buildings.”
It adds the ILC is designed to simplify installations where space is limited or a custom direct connection solution is preferred. “The ILC supports both shielded and UTP applications, solid and stranded cable for maximum flexibility,” Siemon explained when announcing the ILC’s launch. The ILC “is fully compliant with Category 6A performance standards,” the company added. “Ideal for wireless access points, security cameras, and other IP-based or PoE-enabled devices, it also enables seamless transitions from indoor to outdoor-rated cabling.”
It accommodates cables with AWG ranging from 23 to 28 and is backward-compatible with Category 5e and Category 6. It’s also rated to support all levels of PoE at elevated temperatures and in plenum spaces for PoE and high-speed data. It contains no complex components and requires minimal tools for installation.
“The In-Line Connector offers quick, reliable high-performance field terminations for custom-length direct connections,” Siemon says on its website, adding that the ILC “is compliant with UL 1863 and UL 2043 for use in plenum air-handling spaces.”
